I looked forward to this trip for almost a year. Thanks to Brent for securing all the permits for the group of 8 and researching the details! We started our adventure on May 2nd and returned May 6th. From the Phoenix valley, the trip to Lee's Ferry where we dropped off the cars was about 41/2 hours. Lee's Ferry is the end point of the hike. This is where we met our transport to the trail beginning. Jeff arranged to have a friend pick us up in style. A luxury mobile home . The trip took 2 hours for us to arrive at the start of the Whitehouse Trail of the Paria Canyon. This is due to a rock fall that took place on the shortcut road through a mountain to get to Page from Lee's Ferry. Word is the road will be repaired eventually but as for now you have to take an alternate route. After some relaxation in the RV and some cold beers we set up camp at the Whitehouse trailhead . The weather was amazing! The high was in the low 80s and the low was in the 50s. This make for a comfortable night of sleep. I didn't even have to close my sleeping bag. I'm not a morning person as anyone who knows me will swiftly acknowledge, but for some reason when I am camping I look forward to waking up in the early morning hours. The colors of the mountain are a different shade, the air is cool and seems to have some kind of new day smell to it that makes you want to stretch and take a deep breathe. I also look forward to the black coffee which I would normally add some nut milk for flavor. Breakfast consists of Mary Janes Farm Outrageous Organic Oatmeal from REI that is so good, I sometimes think about adding it to my normal morning routine.
